Interesting to hear from you - here in Norway we have a saying that blood is thicher than water....

I'am born in 1962, and I own a small farm producing sweet cherries not far from Granvin. But for a living I am a computer consultant / software develeoper (www.idata.no).

My grand grandfather was Arnvid Davidsen Spilde (1876) from the Spilde farm in Granvin. His parents were David Monsen Tufte Spilde (1848) which married Anna Arnvidsdtr Rondestveit (from the Spilde farm) in 1868. They took the farm name Spilde as last name. Annas parents was Arnvid Olsen Rondestveit (1809) and Anna Jonsdtr HÃ¥heim (1813).

And here is one interesting clue: among Annas grandparents there is Olav Magnussen Rondestveit (1769) married to Madli Sjursdtr Vestrheim (1785). Madli is not an commom name, they had 4 childeren.

My father has some books (Ættarbok) which links farms / names / relatives. I'll check and come back with more info...

By the way, my sister's name is Anne Spilde.

Me and my family: I was born 1947. I'm married to Vera and have two children, Haakon 24 and Marianne 19. My profession is information technology, and I'm director of business development at ErgoSolutions. I have two brothers, Ivar Spilde, born 1941,teacher at high school in Sandefjord, Norway, married to Wenche and daughter Tone, 33. Jon Spilde is the younger brother, born 1950, married to Elin with son Tore, 3, graphics designer in Asker, Norway. Leiv Spilde, headmaster of Virik skole was our father, died 11 years ago. Ivar Spilde, head of the schools in Sandar county, was his father. Olav Larsson Spildo was his father, living from 1854 until 1945. Lars Olavson Spildo 1827-1913. Comments :  Paul is originally from Halma, MN. The woods are full of Spilde's there. The came from Norway in the 1880's, and I believe came right to northwestern Minnesota. The point person for the geneology is Jodyce (Spilde) Folland of Halma, MN. I do not believe she has a computer, but you can mail to her without a street or box address and she will get it. She has a wealth of information on the Spilde family. We talked with some of the old timers when we were in our 20's and 30's, and have a lot of things written down, but not much of it is organized. We do have a family tree, and some info, but are in the process of trying to get it on a geneology program on the computer. I believe our daughter-in-law, Linda Spilde of Carlsbad, New Mexico has e-mailed you - she, too, is very interested in the family history. We'd like to stay in touch.
